Day Eleven January 12, 2014

Today is day 11 of 'My Big Fat Juice Cleanse'.
"What? No food whatsoever?, nothing at all?", he said.  "No, just vegetable and fruit juices, and water", she said.  "Well, why can't you eat the fruit and vegetables?", he said.  "Because part of the reasoning behind a cleanse is to give the digestive system a rest.  No food, caffeine, alcohol, or over the counter medications.", she said.  "Well, that's just stupid", he said.

This was part of the conversation I overheard between my sister and her husband just before we began our juice cleanse.  After a couple of days of watching us having nothing but juice, he decided to give it a try.  This is a man that would exist entirely on meat if left to his own devices.  I was shocked when she told me he was on board with this.  He didn't go juice only, he added the juice to meals, and replaced occasional meals with juice.  The results have been nothing short of amazing...well maybe not amazing, but they have been pretty great.  He lost weight and was immediately feeling better.

So why not have a couple of beers with his buddy that dropped by?  They're just liquid, it's not like eating...right.  Wrong!  The next day he was ill and listless... now, I get to say it..."That's just stupid". I haven't checked in with them to see if he is back on, or if he is blaming the juice not the beer for making him feel shitty.  Maybe when he's feeling a little less cranky, I'll ask.

Things are all about the juice at my house too.  This morning I made juice for all three boys and myself.  They stand around the juicer waiting for it...I can't believe how into they are.  All are feeling
better as a result of adding the juice to their diet.  At the very least, everyone is extremely regular.

Seriously though, my youngest son is seeing improvements in his skin.  My older son is feeling more energized, and my husband is feeling less bloated.  I never thought I would hear, "are you making juice?, I'll have some if you are".  Now if only they would make it themselves!

  1. He is less cranky today. He told me he woke up yesterday "wanting to punch someone in he face". "Nothing personal", he assured me. He is back to juicing alongside his meals and replacing a meal on ocasion. Juice on!
