Today is day 20 of 'My Big Fat Juice Cleanse'. Here we are, two thirds of the way through my thirty day juice cleanse. Ten more days to go...never thought I would last this long. Having my sister as my juicing buddy has strengthened my resolve to complete this. I can't imagine how lonely this would feel without her.
The most interesting development, is that we are not alone...I can't believe how many people have jumped on the bandwagon. I only started to actually publish this blog 12 days ago. Since that time, five friends, another sister, my mother, and a cousin and her husband, have made juicing a part of their life. It may not sound like much but it is. Juicing is not cheap, a juicer is expensive... if you are not going to use it. All have committed to the process of improving their health and weight with juicing. Not all are doing a cleanse, nor do I think they should be. Some are supplementing their diet with juice. Some have done a three day cleanse, and continue to make fresh juice a part of their daily diet. Some are just starting out, and are not sure how long they intend to cleanse. The common response from them is that they feel great. Many have lost some weight, and are still losing now that they are motivated to adopt a healthier plant based diet.
Whatever the reason someone starts juicing...it's the right reason. Taking a step toward better health, can only lead to more steps.
I have decided to reiterate the details of the juice cleanse I am doing...save you from going to look for it if you are interested. I start my day with a large mug of lemon juice, ginger and water...and at the beginning...I had to choke this shit down. I then have a green based 14-20oz juice for breakfast. This juice includes kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, lemon, ginger, and apple. Around lunch, I'm all into colour. Carrots, beets, red pepper, lemon, parsley, onion and garlic...I'm not recommending these combinations, I'm just telling you what I have...a friend informed me that she thinks they taste awful. Everyone needs to find what they like. I then repeat a combination of these two juices, two more times as hungry. I also like to have a fruit juice in the evening...as a mocktail...I know...I'm not even fooling myself. I love watermelon juice with mint, this is usually a 8oz serving. Throughout the day I drink 6 - 8 glasses of water, several herbal teas, and 12oz of unsweetened coconut water. Hope this is helpful.
An update: not only are my sister and I feeling fantastic, we have lost a combined 35.6 lbs in the 19 days we have completed. She at 18.2 lbs down, and I am at 17.4 lbs down. Looking forward to the next ten days...really...I am!.
