Today is day 14 of 'My Big Fat Juice Cleanse'. It's funny how I have received such positive response to telling people what I'm doing, while at the same time receiving such negative response from others. It seems people are interested, or not...no middle ground. They think its a good thing, or a bad.
When I quit smoking, the reaction was celebration! Everyone I encountered thought it was a wonderful idea. Everyone knows smoking is bad...no one said "aw come on, that's crazy, quitting is a bad idea". When you take control of your health through your diet, I think the reaction is mixed for various reasons. Not understanding the process, therefore skeptical. Or, perhaps there is an underlying fear that maybe they should be doing something more about their health, but don't really want to.
I try not to get all 'soap boxy' about what I'm doing, but sometimes I just get so damn excited about how I feel. I want to share the feeling so other people will try it and experience the same renewed energy that I have. (I'm not talking about juice only, just about adding juicing to their diet). I suppose I can sometimes be a bit 'much' about it, I pledge to limit my attempt at converting the masses to people actually interested...I'll work on you...yes, you. I will try to keep my exuberance confined to these pages. Come by...let me drive you nuts...instead of everyone else in my life :).

ReplyDeleteGood for you kiddo. I jumped on bored for the full 3 days and it was tough for me as I had brutal headaches. Possibly related to the amount of cruciferous vegetables and my synthetic hormone for thyroid, or maybe just a wicked detoxification of my liver. Either way, I returned to healthy eating and I felt fantastic. My cravings have stopped, my portion sizes are smaller and I'm eating a very plant based diet. I'm continuing with the coconut water and at least ONE veg. juice a day. I feel fantastic and know that I will do a 3 day detox again - just not when I have to go to work. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee & Muriel for the inspiration. You are both wonderful role models - keep calm & juice on!
Thanks Rhonda, so glad you got to experience the 3 day cleanse. Too bad about the headache...mine was brutal for about a week. I think it was caffeine withdrawal for me. Btw, 7 1/2 lbs for a three day is awesome! Congrats
DeleteI made a grumpy cat meme just for you!
ReplyDeleteSaw it...loved it :)
DeletePlease keep standing and shouting from your soap box and especially posting your blog, We love it! You have converted my husband (via my reading your blog aloud to him, especially after I told him about 'Frank') and me! You and Muriel are very inspirational and encouraging, please ignore (delete) the nay sayers, they don't have the required will, desire or stamina!. I think Bear and I will be watching the movie you mentioned in your blog.
DeleteLove you LA, keep us entertained and enlightened!!
P.S. I think we can do this cleanse, but Billy, afraid not as far as you have gone, Vegan...OMG!!
Thanks Cindy, so glad you're enjoying it. If you watch 'Fat Sick, and Nearly Dead', you will be super motivated. Even a 3 day will give you incredible results. It becomes such a motivation to change what you're doing and become one of those obnoxious boring healthy people! Lol :)
